* Traditionally the facilitator of Table-Top Role-Playing Games has been called the "Gamemaster" or "Dungeonmaster". As the TTRPG community has grown in diversity, so has our awareness of the potential harmful impact of our language, settings, and gaming practices. The word "master" can be interpreted in many ways-- some of those, reflective of tragic power imbalances in our history. It is also not a good representation of the collaborative, cooperative relationship between RPG players and the person facilitating game. For these reasons, I am moving away from the title of "Gamemaster" and trying instead to use "Game Moderator". The abbreviation, GM, remains the same. It is a transition I hope others in the TTRPG community will join with me in working towards.
